RAF 100 Celebratory Service

Posted: Tue, August 14th, 2018

Sunday 1st April 2018 marked 100 years of the Royal Air Force and a number of special events have already taken place in Huntingdon.

In further celebration of this milestone, and of the close relationship between Huntingdon and RAF Wyton from its formation as a Royal Flying Corps Station in 1916, a commemoration and reaffirmation service will take place on the Market Square on Monday 3rd September 2018, at 11.40am.

The 3rd September is a significant date in RAF Wyton’s history, marking the first operational sortie of World War II to leave Wyton, back in 1939. The service will include the presentation of an RAF100 scroll to RAF Wyton, in recognition of its steadfast and loyal service in the defence of our nation to the present day.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend the service, to join Huntingdon Town Council and RAF Wyton in marking such a celebratory milestone. Those wishing to spectate are encouraged to arrive on the Market Square from 11.20am.
