Travel agents in Huntingdon collected more than 200 gifts for children in care during a Christmas appeal.
Premier Travel, based in Huntingdon High Street, doubled the number of donations for this year’s Santa’s Sack campaign following an appeal for children’s toys.
Customers and passers-by popped into the branch to hand over presents suitable for newborns to children up to 16 years old, with donations including cuddly toys, games and colouring packs. The presents were collected by a representative from social services and delivered to youngsters in care across Huntingdonshire in time for Christmas.
Holly Shotter, branch manager, said, “We’re extremely pleased with the amount of gifts collected in this year’s appeal. We’ve more than doubled our donations for the children and it’s one of our best Santa’s Sack appeals so far – we even ran out of places to store the presents.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to all the customers and shoppers who contributed to the present sack and helped make the appeal a success. It’s so heartwarming to think of the difference these gifts will make to the lives of youngsters who don’t receive much at Christmas.”
Premier Travel in Huntingdon has been running its annual Santa’s Sack appeal for three years.
