The Trial of Charles I

The Trial of Charles I

Cromwell Museum & Trust, Huntingdon
Grammar School Walk, PE29 3LF Huntingdon

The drama, tension, and tragedy of the trial of King Charles I will come to Huntingdon Town Hall this February.

On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 February 2019, the Cromwell Museum will be staging dramatised performances recreating the tumultuous events of the trial in January 1649.

Held in the atmospheric surroundings of one of the historic courtrooms in Huntingdon Town Hall, working with members of the Sealed Knot historical re-enactment society, and using original trial records from the Parliamentary Archives, the Museum has produced an edited and dramatised version of the trial, which will be recreated with all the key figures including King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell being played by amateur actors.
