Huntingdon marks Merchant Navy Day
The 3rd September is Merchant Navy Day. Commemorated and celebrated annually around the world, it is the day to remember merchant seafarers who died at war.
Huntingdon Town Council will be marking Merchant Navy Day with the processing to Pathfinder House for a private ‘Flag Raising’ ceremony before recessing back to the Market Square for a short Wreath Laying ceremony where a one minute silence will be observed at 11.00am.
To indicate the commencement and end of the silence, Huntingdon District Sea Cadets will ring a ship’s bell.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Wreath Laying ceremony and remember those who died at sea for our Country. If you would like to be a part of the service, please assemble on the Market Square for 10.55am.
