Freedom of Huntingdon Parade for 501st Combat Support Wing
On Friday 21st September 2018 at 11.00am, a Parade will take place in Huntingdon, granting the Freedom of the Town to the 501st Combat Support Wing, headquartered at RAF Alconbury.
Personnel will march onto the Market Square where there will be a formal inspection of the troops and a flypast, followed by a parade through the Town Centre.
The 501st Combat Support Wing is a unique organisation with over 2,000 Airmen at seven geographically separated locations across the United Kingdom and Norway. Each installation contributes to the Pathfinder mission of enabling command and control; intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance; and global strike operations to meet U.S. and NATO objectives.
The 501st tracks its lineage to the WW2-era 501st Bombardment Group, through the Cold-War era 501st Tactical Missile Wing, and then into the modern era as the 501st Combat Support Wing. Now, the wing serves a community of more than 14,000 personnel and supports the NATO Joint Warfare Centre, U.S. European Command, and NATO intelligence analysis units, among others.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend the parade to recognise and support the importance of the 501st Wing’s ongoing work. Those wishing to spectate are advised to arrive on the Market Square for 10.40am.
