East Anglian travel firm one of the big winners at annual trade awards

Independent local travel company Premier Travel has scooped a double victory after winning two prestigious industry awards.

The Cambridgeshire-based firm was honored with a Promotion of the Year accolade at this year’s Agent Achievement Awards following its 80th Birthday campaign in 2016. The initiative saw Premier Travel give away 80 Prizes in 80 Days in all of its 18 branches last summer, followed by staff volunteering at numerous charities and local organisations later in the year.

Travel Consultant Beth Collins, based at Premier Travel in St Ives, was also crowned the best young travel agent in the UK after winning the Young Leisure Agent of the Year Award.

The annual Agent Achievement Awards, organised by leading trade publication Travel Weekly, are the biggest celebration of the travel trade in the UK, with 850 people attending this year’s ceremony in London. They reward and recognise the very best travel agents in the country.

East Anglian-based Premier Travel went up against a number of big national travel chains in both its categories.

Premier’s Beth Collins, who joined the firm as an apprentice last year, said: “I can’t believe I was chosen for the award. I love selling holidays and enjoy every second of my job. It’s such an honour.”

Beth Collins, from Premier Travel in St Ives, collected her award for Young Leisure Agent of the Year from TV presenter, Stephen Mulhern.

Paul Waters, Premier Travel director, who collected the Promotion of the Year Award on behalf of the company, said: “Our 80th anniversary last year was a huge landmark for us and we’re so incredibly proud that our efforts to reward customers and give back to our local communities have been recognised with such a prestigious award. It was a real team effort across the whole of Premier.”

Following the success of Premier Travel’s 80 Prizes in 80 Days promotion, the company has launched a treasure trove competition this year giving customers the chance to win more prizes over the summer.
