Chequers Shopping Centre moving on a-pace

Chequers Court Shopping Centre is moving on a-pace with the majority of the hoardings now taken down making it more of a visual reality.

The retail scheme is getting ready to welcome three major names already signed up and ready to open once the site is finished. Marks and Spencer Simply Food, Next and Caffè Nero are all set to move into the larger of the units.

Developers, Manormaker GP, are talking to other possible traders for the scheme and interest is said to be ‘high’ from retailers not currently in Huntingdon.

Work started last autumn and the main building work continued in the spring with an anticipated summer opening.

The new Caffè Nero shop will take a corner unit facing St Germain Walk with some outdoor seating.

Huntingdon has recently had a spate of new businesses opening including Pandora, Urban Country, Wetherspoon’s Sandford House Hotel and Aldi whilst Brampton Pie Company has relocated to St Benedicts Court.

“Everyone is waiting for the opening of Chequers Shopping Centre, which will attract people to the town and build a buzz for Huntingdon. We would like to thank the nearby shops for their patience whilst the building works are underway but the pain will be worth the gain when it opens,” said Sue Bradshaw, BID Huntingdon Manager.
